The gemstone pictured here is different to the actual size of the gem, which can be seen in the dimension quadrant of the 'Description of the Gemstone' section in each Listing/ Product page, for the actual measurements of the gem.

We use a macro photography lens. The actual gem is far smaller than the image you can see, and the colour may differ slightly due to lighting, your monitor settings, and other environmental factors, although we try our very best to ensure the image shown matches the actual gem as far as possible.

Many inclusions shown are not visible to the naked eye. All flaws are proof of genuineness! We sincerely believe in a full and honest representation of all our gems to reveal enhancements, origins and clarity, and we do not misrepresent gems.

Optional gemmological certificates may be obtained for a small fee depending on the value of the gemstone and if the certification is to include testing for Heat enhancement from:

a. International UK qualified gemmologists - $20 upwards,
b. Gemmological Institute of Colombo (GIC) affiliated with Tokyo Gemmological Laboratories - $50 upwards,
c. From the Sri Lanka Gem Corporation (State owned) - $20 upwards.

Certificate Charges

Each certifying body (or individual) charges a minimum rate per certificate that increases depending on the value/ weight of the gemstone being tested. Testing for heat in a gemstone is charged for separately and must be requested for by the customer.

Important note for Alexandrites & Padparadschas:
We are unable to guarantee certificates with the title of "Alexandrite/ Padparadscha" (although we will do our utmost to obtain a certificate with its correct title name of Padparadscha/ Alexandrite) as certification for these two stones controversially differ from Country to Country and Gemmologist to Gemmologist due to varying tastes, percentage of colour absorption, trends, etc. Therefore it is possible that these Gemstones are referred to as Pink/Orange/Brown/Red Sapphire (instead of Padparadscha as it is a combination of two or more of these colours) or Chrysoberyl (instead of Alexandrite as each Gemmologist has his own Percentage for colour change) in some certificates. Due to these variances, we can only guarantee genuineness of a Gemstone, Accuracy of Weight & Dimension, Enhancement, etc. The rest is up to the certifying body.

Please note, the price of a certified gemstone can be significantly greater than one that has not been certified, especially in the case of these two stones, which is always reflected in the price of each stone we sell.

Colour Grade

A - The Gem has the best, evenly spread colour, hue, tone, & saturation.
B - The Gem is between A and C; medium-dark colour.
C - The Gem has a medium but still, very good colour.
D - The Gem is between C and E, and of light colour.
E - The Gem has a very light shade of colour (that nears white).

Clarity Grade

Gemstones are differently graded to Diamonds, as they are freely available in larger sizes unlike the larger Diamonds, inclusions are generally more noticeable and hence we have their clarity broken down into 5 grades to better mimic the well know diamond grading method: Loupe Clean/ A Grade (IF to VVS1), Eye Clean/ B Grade (VVS2 to VS2), and everything else C to E Grade (SI to HI).

A Grade (Inclusions not seen under a 10x Loupe)

A+ (FL/ Flawless) – The Gem is better than Loupe Clean (extremely rare), with no visible inclusions internally or externally.
A (IF/ Internally Flawless) -The Gem is Loupe Clean with absolutely no visible inclusions under a 10x lens/ loupe.
A- (VVS1/ Nearly IF) – The gem is nearly Loupe clean with a single, nearly invisible inclusion under a 10x lens/ loupe.

These are very rare & valuable Gems.

B Grade (Inclusions not seen with the naked eye)

B+ (VVS2/ Eye Clean) – The Gem is better than eye clean with a very few inclusions visible only under a 10x lens.
B (VS1/ Eye Clean) - The Gem is Eye Clean with no visible inclusions to the naked eye, and is excellent for investment/ collection/ setting.
B- (VS2/ Nearly Eye Clean) – The Gem is nearly Eye clean with a single near-invisible inclusion only visible to the naked eye upon close inspection.

Such Inclusions do not significantly affect the value of a gem.

C Grade (Inclusions not seen with the naked eye from 1 foot away)

C+ (SI1/ Slightly Included) - The Gem has one tiny inclusion that is visible only upon close inspection, but is not visible 1 foot away from the naked eye (seen at waist/ table height).
C (SI2/ Slightly Included 2) - The Gem has more than one inclusion that is not visible 1 foot away from the naked eye.
C- (SI3/ Slightly Included 3) – The Gem has more than one inclusion that is visible at 1 foot away from the naked eye.

Such Inclusions moderately affect the value of a gem.

D Grade (Inclusions seen with the naked eye from 1 foot away)

D+, D, D- (I/ Included) – The Gem has multiple inclusions that are visible to the naked eye from 1 foot away (table height).

Such Inclusions more than moderately affect the value of the gem.

E Grade (Inclusions seen with the naked eye from 3 feet away)

E+,E, E- (HI/ Highly Included) - The Gem has many visible inclusions that can be noticed from about 3 feet away or at arms length.

The value of the gem is significantly affected.

Shape/ Cut & Lustre

A+, A, A- (Excellent) - Ideal proportions and symmetry, excellent polishing, exceptional brilliance and lustre.
B+, B, B- (Very Good) - The Cut is very good but lacking one aspect of either symmetry, polishing, or luster and brilliance.
C+, C, C- (Good) - Balanced symmetrical form, minimal facet misalignment, small or almost invisible polishing marks, good lustre.
D+, D, D- (Acceptable) - The Cut is somewhere between C & E.
E+, E, E- (Poor) – More than one of the following: Unsymmetrical or disproportional form, evident facet misalignment, noticeable polishing marks, poor surface lustre, overly dark 'dead' stone.

Enhancement

We DO NOT sell treated gemstones - NO beryllium, glass filling, radiation, etc. - only Natural, earth-mined gemstones. Any enhancement is only of Mild Heat, which is a world-wide accepted enhancement that permanently increased the colour inside a stone, without the inclusion of any foreign/ artificial substances. These items are clearly indicated in the description table of each gemstone. We use four letters to indicate the enhancement of a gemstone:

N – Natural
The Gemstone has been certified (or known) to be Unheated and is 100% Natural. No enhancement of any sort has been done to the gemstone.

E – Assume Enhanced (by Mild heat only)
Since many enhancements are difficult or impractical to prove definitively, unless otherwise indicated, our approach is to assume that such enhancements have been applied to that particular gemstone. This assumption is made to protect both buyer and seller. The gemstone could either be unheated or have undergone Mild Heat treatment only (heated in low temperatures to mildly but permanently increase the colour of a gemstone). Obtaining a certificate (optional) can prove the existence of heat enhancement or otherwise.

H – Heated Only
The gem has been heated to permanently increase the colour in the stone. This practice is widely accepted throughout the world and does not alter the chemical composition of the stone. Furthermore, this does not affect the value of the stone (significantly) unlike in beryllium treated stones.

T - Treated
The gemstone has been treated in ways other than Mild heat. This significantly affects the value of the stone. We DO NOT sell treated stones under any circumstance.

Star Sapphire & Cats Eye Quality

A+, A, A- (Perfect) – There is a Strong, electric-bright (6 Ray) Star/ Eye that is clearly visible. There are no weak or broken rays.
B+, B, B- (Very Good) – The Star/ Eye is clearly seen brightly. One ray or tiny part of the eye may be weak or broken.
C+, C, C- (Good) – The Star/ Eye is clearly seen, and may be a little dull. Two rays or a small part of the eye may be weak or broken.
D+, D. D- (Acceptable) – The Star/ Eye is visible but not entirely. Three rays or a significant part of the eye may be weak or broken.
E+, E, E- (Poor) – The Star/ Eye cannot be seen very clearly or may not be visible at all. Four or more rays of the star or almost all of the Eye may be extremely weak and broken in many areas.

Items received after 30 days from the RMA date will not be accepted.
We reserve the right to refuse a refund if we feel this policy is being abused/ without providing any reason.
Your refund will be processed immediately afterwards and may take up to 30days before it reaches your account depending on your chosen method of payment.

We offer two methods of shipment:
   1. Regular Registered Post (delivery within 2 – 3 weeks), and
   2. Expedited Courier Post (delivery with 3 – 5 days).

All Regular Shipments are shipped within 3 working days of receiving cleared payment, have NO online tracking method, and take 2 to 3 weeks to deliver. Transit times can increase drastically during peak seasons in Postal traffic, or if held in Customs.

All Expedited/ Courier Shipments are shipped within 24 hours of receiving cleared payment (assuming there are no local holidays during this time). Packages can be tracked online and take 3 – 5 days to deliver. Transit times can increase drastically if held in Customs.

Special notice to Customers paying with Paypal: If your chosen method of shipment is Regular Registered Post delivery, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with this method of shipment and waive your right to claim for lost packages/ item not received through Paypal, as Paypal requires Online tracking and none of the Sri Lankan (State owned) postal methods have this facility. You are highly recommended to obtain insurance when using this method in order to further secure your package, although we are yet to lose a package in this method.

(Please note that, although we try our utmost to avoid any Customs duties at your end, the Customer is responsible for any Customs duties charged and providing other documentation required for import of gemstones/ jewellery.)

Insurance is optional and highly recommended. We are not responsible for any lost or delayed items if insurance is not taken. Please see our Insurance Policy below for more details.

All Store Items can be combined during shipping up to a maximum of 5 items, or $300 for Regular Shipping and $1,000 for Expedited Shipping, whichever comes first. Invoices will be broken down to multiple 'bundles' of $300 (for Regular Shipping method) and $1,000 (for Expedited Shipping method) - shipping charges are calculated per bundle. (For multiple items purchased with different shipping rates, the maximum shipping amount of an item will apply. Although we promise to minimise your shipping costs per invoice, we will not compromise on package safety.)

Only shipments purchased within 7 days of each other are eligible for combined shipping.

These stringent terms are to ensure that your purchase is shipped safely and without incurring any Customs Duties, etc. wherever possible.

Again, if the package is detained at customs, the customer is responsible for any duties that may be charged. We are not responsible for transit times, which may increase significantly during peak seasons, or if held in customs for inspection, or any other factor that is beyond our control.

Insurance is calculated at 1% of the value of the package or $5.50 minimum.
Insurance is optional but highly recommended in the event of a lost or damaged package.
We are not responsible in either case if you have not covered your package.
If you have paid for insurance, we will submit a claim on your behalf with the Insuring Company. Please note it may take from one to three months before a claim can be processed and funds made available and sent to your account.

Feedback is just as important for you as it is for us, and will be left soon after we receive your confirmed payment!
Before leaving negative feedback, please email us and we will do our utmost to make things right for you, hence we hope there will be no need for negative feedback on either side.

We reserve the right to end our auctions/ listings at any time without notice. Listed prices are in United States Dollars (US$) unless otherwise stated. Auction items cannot be combined with other auctions for shipping discounts unless specified in the auction.
